Six of the local semi-professional clubs are expected to be in action this evening on a busy night of non-league football.
Brighouse Town will be looking for points after a poor run in the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Neighbours Liversedge also have a league fixture, while four other clubs are involved in three different cup competitions.
Mark Brier’s Town have injury problems and have taken just one point from the last available nine as they prepare to host Nostell Miners’ Welfare.
In another blow, they lost Nicky Boshell before Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Winterton Rangers, the midfielder having signed for Evo-Stik Premier Division outfit Bradford Park Avenue.
Town were the only local club to play on Saturday as the cold snap caused yet more problems with a glut of postponements.
Liversedge missed out on a home game but hope to welcome Armthorpe Welfare tonight.
Sedge’s last outing was against Brighouse and the point they gained from the derby was enough to lift them out of the relegation places.
A win at Clayborn tonight would put clear daylight between them and the trapdoor.
Guiseley and Thackley have both reached the quarter-final stage of the West Riding County Cup and face ties against clubs from other leagues. Thackley have home advantage but, in Garforth Town, face a side who are higher in the pyramid system.
Guiseley travel to Pontefract Collieries, who are four divisions lower.
Farsley face a visit from AFC Emley as the two reformed clubs battle it out in the second round of the NCEL President’s Cup.
Premier Division Farsley will be favourites to progress with home advantage over their Division One visitors.
The Wilkinson Sword Trophy is the Division One Cup and Eccleshill United have been drawn at Louth Town – the club Farsley knocked out of the last round of the President’s Cup.
That tie was three days after Eccleshill went to Louth for the league fixture, in which the Eagles were 3-2 victors.
The defeat will still be fresh in the memory of Louth as they look to avenge their loss.
