St Johnstone striker Scott Dobie could be on his way to Valley Parade in a deadline-day deal.
City are hoping to land the former Scotland international for the rest of the season, providing they can get the move through in time.
Peter Taylor agreed a deal with the Scottish club yesterday to take the 32-year-old. But he admitted that the delay is a concern.
He said: "I'm not over-impressed at the minute with the way it's going.
"I'll be having words with St Johnstone quite quickly. I still think we've got a chance because the odd bit of paperwork did go in before the (deadline) time. We'll wait and see.
"We need a bit more experience and I think Scott's a point to prove.
"I spoke to a lot of people and it's amazing how many people I know, know him. He wanted the opportunity to come back and play in England and he wanted to come to Bradford."
