Albion Sports’ hopes of making progress in the WEST RIDING COUNTY FA CHALLENGE CUP were thwarted after having to switch venues.

A late morning inspection of their own Myra Shay ground showed it to be unplayable so the tie was switched to their West Yorkshire Premier Division rivals’ ground at Bardsey, who sealed a 1-0 win. Huddersfield-based Golcar United did advance by beating Halifax League side Hebden Roy Red Star 3-2 and will now play defending champions Knaresborough Town in the quarter-finals on Saturday. Lower Hopton will have to try again this coming weekend against Huddersfield League side Uppermill after efforts to find a playable pitch proved fruitless.

Club officials of Campion spent Saturday morning seeking a ground to stage their WEST RIDING COUNTY FA CHALLENGE TROPHY game against Moldgreen after Manningham Mills was declared unfit.

This led to Campion Reserves playing the tie at a venue near Bingley and they advanced to the quarter-finals with a 3-1 win with goals from Ben Cheetham, Jordan Aird and a Louis Etienne penalty.
