Winterton Rangers 3 Brighouse Town 1
Brighouse got off to a perfect start at Winterton but ended with a feeling of deja vu as they slipped to their second successive Saturday defeat in the Kool Sport Premier Division.
The previous week they lost their top-eight clash to Maltby Main 5-0, slipping to eighth while their opponents moved up a place.
On Saturday they slipped to tenth, while Winterton climbed one to sixth.
Town had picked up a point from an away draw in midweek though.
Lee Burgess gave them a terrific start at Winterton when he scored after 30 seconds.
Rangers had forced Town keeper Paul Brown into a wonderful save before Liam Wilkin levelled in the 29th minute.
Town had another bright start to the second period but Rangers again got on top and Wilkin ran in two more goals to claim a hat-trick.
Brighouse manager Mark Brier said: “We were beaten fair and square so there are absolutely no complaints. When we got off to a flier we dominated for a spell.
“On another note, I think the game was superbly run by the officials.
“It is increasingly rare that we are able to say that these days but, credit where it’s due, they did an outstanding job.”
