Guiseley climbed back up to second place in the Blue Square Bet North Division with a midweek home win and another victory on Saturday could see them at the summit once again.
The only downside of Tuesday’s 3-2 win was that the Lions lost goalkeeper Steven Drench. The ever-reliable stopper was injured in a collision with a Hinckley attacker midway through the first half.
Speaking ahead of the trip to eighth-placed Droylsden, Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick said: “We are hoping that Drenchy will be fit. He wants to play because he is from the Manchester area and he knows a lot of their players.
“He has a bruised shoulder with some stud marks still on it but it was a totally accidental coming together. Drenchy went to make a save and the kid just caught him with his follow through. There was absolutely no malice in it.
“It was very painful at the time and we had to take him off straight away but we have had it checked out and it seems the bruising is the extent of the damage.”
Guiseley were pushed all the way by lowly Hinckley but on the same night leaders Nuneaton Town were pegged back by Hyde. That means the Lions are just two points adrift and they have a game in hand.
But they will take nothing for granted and Kittrick said: “Droylsden are a very good side and they have done well in the cups.
“They had a run in the FA Trophy and the FA Cup and they played well at our place, so it is going to yet another very tough away fixture.”
