Tom Adeyemi has promised City there will be no half measures now that he is here for the whole season.
The on-loan midfielder was delighted when Norwich agreed to extend his stay at Valley Parade.
Now he is aiming to repay Peter Taylor’s faith and find more consistency in his game, starting with Crewe tonight.
Like the team, Adeyemi has had his ups and downs in his first proper term in senior football.
But on his day, he provides an energetic, strong-running option willing to get into the opposition box.
At Aldershot last week, his individual efforts shone out from another otherwise disappointing result.
Taylor feels he can tap into that raw talent and Adeyemi believes he can have more impact the more games he plays.
He said: “I came here hoping to have as regular football as possible and I’m very happy to have played so often.
“I just hope to stay injury free and keep that run going. If I can play my part over a whole season, I will see it as a real achievement.
“I’m sure Norwich will look back and see the number of games I’ve played and judge if it’s been worthwhile for me.
“As long as they can see I’m working hard and improving here, hopefully that will stand me in good stead for when I go back.”
Adeyemi has been a regular in the City side since the end of September, starting 17 of the last 19 games – and the two he missed were through injury.
The teenager, who has flitted between central and right-sided roles, has quickly learned to view the bigger picture.
“The one thing I’ve really noticed is the importance of results,” he added. “When I was playing reserve-team football at Norwich, it was more about your performance individually than that of the team.
“But playing league football, nobody’s going to care if you’re playing well if the team is still losing.
“Of course you want to play well. But when you look back at the end of the season, you hope to have achieved as many results as possible.
“We’ve had a mixed bag of a season. We’ve beaten teams like Bury, who are considered one of the best in the league, and then we’ve had other days when we’ve been poor.
“That’s something we need to look at both individually and as a team. It’s all about finding that consistency.
“There really is hardly anything between teams at the top and the bottom. It’s so tight, which is why it’s always down to match day and concentrating hard on making as few mistakes as possible.”
