Goals at either end just minutes apart in the second half meant Guiseley had to settle for a point from their visit to Boston in this Blue Square Bet North top-five clash.
It could be seen as a good result on the face of it but the Lions will be disappointed after creating most of the chances.
It was a close affair, with few clear opportunities in front of goal, but the visitors definitely bossed the goal attempt count.
The result left the promotion race in much the same state as it was before kick-off, as none of the top five picked up a victory.
New leaders Nuneaton and AFC Telford were also held to draws, while Nicky Law’s Alfreton Town suffered a postponement at Worcester City.
The Lions could have profited had they held their lead longer than 90 seconds or netted one of their late free-kicks.
It was a set-piece that gave them their first opportunity but Simon Ainge headed Warren Payton’s fourth-minute corner over.
An isolated shot midway through the half was followed by two efforts just before the end of the goalless first half.
Boston’s keeper made a superb save at the start of the second half to deny the visitors.
Danny Ellis got his head to a Ryan Toulson throw-in, only to see it finger-tipped around the post for a corner.
Just after the hour mark a double chance was created by the pressure the Lions were exerting.
A shot from Dave Merris was again parried by the home keeper and Payton whipped in the resulting corner kick. Payton joined the mass of players in the box just in time to meet the half-clearance but his shot was deflected wide.
The Lions finally found the key to unlocking the home defence in the 67th minute and it was no surprise that it came from yet another set-piece. Payton delivered the corner and Ainge converted it with a well-placed header.
Less than two minutes later, the Guiseley defence appeared to switch off, allowing Danny Sleath to score the equaliser. He had only just joined the fray from the substitutes’ bench and was left unmarked at the far post.
Payton put two free-kicks just over the target, the second dipping but just not enough to make the keeper work, and Danny Boshell went close with a shot five minutes from time as the Lions went in search of the winner.
Former Bradford City striker Danny Forest could be in Guiseley’s squad for Tuesday night's home game against Hinckley United.
He has signed on a month’s loan from Blue Square Bet Premier League outfit Barrow.
