Following their 1-0 win over Scarborough Athletic last Saturday Farsley boss Neil Parsley believes clean sheets are the key to the side’s success because they are always capable of scoring.
The Throstle Nest leaders are the NCE League’s top scorers but Parsley pointed out they must get it right at the other end of the pitch.
His side kept a blank in the 1-0 win at Scarborough Athletic last Saturday but they then conceded twice at lowly Lincoln Moorlands Railway in midweek and were beaten 2-1.
Parsley said: “We will win games if we defend well and stop the opposition scoring because our side has goals in it.
“We have only failed to score twice this season and both of those games were at home.”
Farsley have amassed 60 league goals, while no other Premier Division club have broken through 50.
The nearest is second-placed Parkgate on 49, while Division One leaders Staveley MW have scored 54.
Despite their goal-scoring prowess, Farsley do not have a man in the top-ten scoring charts across all competitions. Ben Jones sneaks in at joint-sixth in the league goals-only list with ten.
Parsley said: “It is true to say that the goals have been spread out.
They have been shared through the squad as we have some strength in depth.
“I think that’s a good thing because we are not relying on one person.
“That rules out a barren spell just because your main strikers are injured, suspended or have lost form, so I’m glad that all the lads are chipping in.”
