Lee Bullock column
It’s fair to say I’ve had a lot better weeks than this last one. Two losses on long away trips and then a bad injury which is going to keep me out for a while.
It’s so frustrating. I’ve had to wait for ages to get in the team and then this happens. And what makes it feel worse is that it came out of nothing.
We had a free-kick and I ran over the ball for Robbie to cross it in. It came back out of the box and as I turned to chase, I just felt this stabbing pain.
I tried to run again and couldn’t. I knew at that point that I’d have to come off. I’ve got this massive lump out the side of my hip and it’s been agony since. I can’t lift my leg because there’s no power in it.
It seems to be the story of my injuries that they come out of daft things. The big one I suffered last time came after I caught my studs in the ground and now I’ve done my thigh from just turning to sprint. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that it’s not as bad as we think.
Obviously losing three on the spin has affected the confidence. But the only way to get that back is by putting in a good performance and getting that win – it’s a vicious circle.
We need the three points on Saturday and then it will be back on an even keel for this year with three wins and three defeats. That’s not ideal but could be worse and we have to stay positive.
Getting Flynny and Rammers back will be good for everyone. Hunty’s been in the squad for a while now and getting those players back is a real boost.
I know the fans are desperate to see Flynny out there. He’s the sort of player if you give him a chance will stick it away, which is what we’ve been struggling to do.
Flynny likes to be the main man and there’s going to be a little bit of pressure on him. But he brings that on himself.
He will love it more than anyone if he goes out there and bangs in a few winning goals. If that does happen, we’ll definitely all need ear plugs!
One positive for me is that at least Flynny is out of the treatment room now. Being injured and being stuck in there listening to him would have just made it twice as bad.
