Eccleshill UNITED exacted swift revenge on Kool Sport NCE League Division One rivals Bottesford Town with a 3-1 home win.
It was the perfect response as, after losing away to their Scunthorpe opponents last Wednesday, the Eagles won by the same score at the Smith-Butler Stadium.
Marcus Edwards put Eccleshill in front after just three minutes as he raced to meet the loose ball after the visitors’ keeper had parried a shot.
The hosts doubled their lead before the half-hour when Declan Corby netted a dipping shot. Town hit back before the break though, with Craig Bridge halving the deficit.
The goal of the game was the home side’s last, with Andy Fieldhouse driving in a stunning free-kick just after the hour mark.
It was a competitive game and the Eagles had to defend well at times to earn their three points.
It was not a good night for Premier Division leaders Farsley as they were beaten 2-1 at lowly Lincoln Moorlands Railway after taking a deserved lead.
Farsley broke the deadlock six minutes before the interval when Ben Jones rounded the home keeper before slotting in.
Lincoln turned the match with a quick-fire double in a five-minute spell just before the hour.
Farsley skipper Dominic Krief was then sent off ten minutes from time for violent conduct after kicking out in frustration.
