Former Bantams winger Ben Muirhead spoiled THACKLEY’S evening by hitting two late goals for Armthorpe Welfare to win last night’s Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Premier Division clash 2-1.
The Bradford visitors were a goal up going into the last 23 minutes, James Firth having edged them in front when he converted Luke Richardson’s 27th-minute corner.
But Muirhead levelled after picking up a rebound off the post. A rasping shot from Henry Sibenge came back off the woodwork and Muirhead netted the loose ball with a clean strike from the edge of the area.
He then sealed all three points for the home side nine minutes from time with a volley after Leo Fortune-West had flicked on a cross.
Meanwhile, LIVERSEDGE moved off the foot of the table and into double figures in the points column following a 4-2 victory at Hallam.
A direct corner from Ben Hardy saw Sedge taking a slender lead into half-time.
After the break, Jamie Wasley netted after having his initial shot parried by the home keeper, before Hallam scored their first.
Wasley netted again, this time after good work by Andy Philp and Hardy, and Sedge’s fourth was another set-piece as Hardy drove in from a free-kick, before the hosts gained a consolation in injury time.
BRIGHOUSE TOWN earned a point from a second away game on the trot. They drew 0-0 at Pickering Town after a 1-1 at promotion rivals Bridlington Town at the weekend.
The only game in the Premier Division tonight sees FARSLEY with an opportunity to extend their lead. They top the table by two points and head to Lincoln Moorlands Railway, who are a lowly 14th.
ECCLESHILL UNITED are at home in Division One and they will be seeking swift revenge on Bottesford Town. The Eagles lost 3-1 at the Scunthorpe-based outfit last Wednesday.
GUISELEY’S opponents in the last 16 of the FA Trophy will be Eastbourne Borough after the Blue Square Bet Premier outfit beat Dorchester Town in last night’s second-round replay on the south coast.
