City slumped to a third loss on the bounce and suffered another injury at Aldershot.
With Tommy Doherty already facing an ankle operation, Peter Taylor saw fellow central midfielder Lee Bullock hobble off in the first half.
A miserable night was compounded two minutes later when Anthony Charles fired home the only goal.
Jon McLaughlin, playing his first game since October, was called straight into action by Ben Harding.
But Tom Adeyemi had two good chances to fire City in front in a lively start to the game.
Problems began though after 21 minutes when Bullock limped away after a heavy fall.
And two minutes later, centre half Charles volleyed Aldershot ahead from Peter Vincenti's cross. McLaughlin got his hands to the shot but could not keep it out at the near post.
City huffed and puffed but never looked like getting back. The closest they came was a header over the bar from sub Mark Cullen within seconds of him coming on.
The problems keep on mounting.
