West Bowling and Queensbury have been drawn together at the Bankfoot Oval on Saturday, January 29 in the next round of the ACE Insurance BARLA National Cup following their commanding first-round victories.
Bowling won 22-0 at National Conference League Division Two rivals Ovenden with a five-star display in which Damian Smith (2), Dom Hadfield, Liam Brown and Trevor Stead shared the touchdowns. Joe Simpson slotted over the only goal.
West's played the conditions perfectly to execute a carefully-worked game-plan in which packman Nigel Halmshaw excelled throughout.
Queensbury player-coach Andy Senior led by example, posting the opening try at Glasson Rangers to give them a slender 4-0 first-half advantage.
The big Cumbrian pack ensured they were well in the hunt until Bury’s Joe Swain scored a brace, which, together with two Scott Swann conversions, saw them home and dry at 16-0.
