Lenny Pidgeley’s 100 per cent run in City’s goal could be under threat tonight.
Pidgeley has played all 12 games since joining the club at the end of October when he took over from Jon McLaughlin.
But his reign as the number one has been brought into question after the blunder which led to Oxford’s equaliser.
After a couple of unconvincing recent displays, the former Chelsea stopper’s place is coming under pressure.
Peter Taylor said: “I’m a little bit concerned. There’s no guarantee that (the goalkeeping position) is going to remain the same.
“But whether it’s Jon or Lenny or Shane (Duff), Luke Oliver or Rob Kiernan at centre half, whoever starts the (Aldershot) game has got to be ready to handle it.
“What I still can’t understand about the first goal is why he didn’t use his hands, although the second was definitely offside. The assistant referee couldn’t wait to give the home team decisions, and I’m going to be writing a letter about that.”
Duff was added to the squad which travelled south again yesterday morning as City look to spoil Dean Holdsworth’s first home game at the Shots helm.
Aldershot boast the worst home record in the division and Kevin Dillon was fired after the fourth successive loss at the EBB Stadium ten days ago. Holdsworth began his reign with a 1-1 draw at Bury.
But Taylor does not see the “new manager syndrome” having any impact on this evening.
With a new boss to impress, Aldershot’s squad may be playing for their futures but the City chief insisted: “So are our players.
“It doesn’t concern me whether they’ve got a new manager or not. I expect us to work as hard as we have been to get a result.
“I’ve got no doubt that we are working as a team but we’re just not being clever enough. Our efforts are in the wrong areas because we keep losing the ball.
“It’s good there’s another game coming up straight away. The players understand what they need to do and that they have to take more responsibility on the ball.”
Holdsworth, who joined Aldershot from non-league Newport, said: “I’m looking forward to tonight. I can’t wait. There’s plenty to work on because there’s a lot of ability here. We shouldn’t be frightened of anybody.”
