Peter Taylor admits City have no time for moping over their latest dose of misery.
The Bantams slipped back into the bottom half of League Two following Saturday’s 2-1 setback at Oxford.
But they are on their travels again this morning, heading back down south to prepare for tomorrow’s clash with Aldershot.
After successive defeats, Taylor knows they must get the show back on the road or risk the season fizzling away.
He said: “We’ll all be a little bit down again (after losing) but we’ve got to pick ourselves up. We’ve got to learn from it and be ready to go again straight away.
“The boys have got to be better on the ball, simple as that. We can’t afford not to have enough control.
“We kept giving the ball away and then we were defending too much. We needed some spells when we can enjoy the ball but unfortunately that’s not happening at the minute.”
David Syers had given City an early lead at the Kassam Stadium but they were under the cosh for virtually all of the game. Oxford struck back twice in the final 15 minutes but thoroughly deserved their sixth win in seven.
Taylor said: “I’m sure there were loads of teams in the country defending like that away from home. But you’ve then got to counter better.
“We had a couple of great opportunities to score second half and we should have done, especially the first one with Omar (Daley).
“It was a really good chance that should have been put away. All of a sudden it would have been 2-0, but it wasn’t to be.
“It was too much for us in the end with the amount of pressure we had to put up with.”
Mark Cullen looked jaded on his first start and was subbed at half-time. James Hanson only came on late after missing training all week with a knee problem.
Taylor is keeping his fingers crossed the striker will suffer no reaction ahead of the Aldershot trip.
He said: “James has got a little bit of fluid on his knee. We’ve had it scanned and don’t think it’s serious but you have to be a bit careful.
“I wasn’t going to risk him but in the end took a chance because we were a goal down. We’re just hoping it doesn’t flare up again.”
