Guiseley’s boss Steve Kittrick hopes Saturday’s visit of Stalybridge Celtic in the FA Trophy will not see a repeat of the stormy league encounter last November.

The bad-tempered affair saw three players sent off in his side’s 3-1 victory, with Callum Warburton and former Guiseley winger Lee Elam being sent off for Celtic and Darryn Stamp receiving his marching orders for the Lions.

When the second-round Trophy draw paired the two teams together again, Kittrick said: “It will be a difficult one against Stalybridge because they have been a bit up and down but they are a full-time outfit.

“Their supporters have been having a little dig at our club and our ground, even the floodlights, on their forum.

“That will mean it is going to be a spicy cup-tie but I hope it goes off without any ‘argy-bargy’.

“This is a different game and I hope for a fresh start.”

Having already seen off holders Barrow in the first round with a stunning 3-2 away victory – despite ending the match with nine men – Guiseley should be confident of making progress in a competition which stages its final at Wembley.

Kittrick has no injury worries or suspensions following last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Corby Town that saw Guiseley knocked off the Blue Square Bet North summit. Saturday’s visitors currently lie in 14th place.
