Farsley are hoping they have turned the proverbial corner after winning their last two games by a margin.
Neil Parsley’s men had been experiencing a wobble as they lost four out of five games in the Kool Sport NCEL Premier Division. Despite that run they held onto the leadership of the division, but only just, going into Saturday’s home game against Scarborough Athletic.
They stopped the rot with a 4-1 win at struggling Dinnington Town and backed that up with a 3-0 success at Louth Town in the League Cup.
Parsley said: “Let us hope that it was a blip and it is over. It is going to be difficult for us because a few clubs below us have games in hand.
“That brings its own problems and any manager will tell you its better to have points on the board but we can’t afford too many more slip-ups.
“Scarborough will be tough opponents as they were many people’s tip for promotion this season.”
The visitors have played seven fewer league fixtures this season than Farsley and would be just a point off the top if they were win them all.
Farsley’s closest challengers Parkgate had three games in hand at the start of the week but missed their first opportunity to leapfrog the current leaders when they lost 2-1 against third-placed Tadcaster Albion.
All three of the other local representatives in the top tier have to travel this weekend.
Sixth-placed Brighouse Town journey to the east coast to take on Bridlington Town, who are fourth.
Thackley also face a six-pointer when they head to Winterton Rangers, looking for the victory that would see them leapfrog their seven-placed hosts, who have a game in hand on the Dennyboys.
Liversedge are still propping up the division and face a tough task at mid-table Pickering Town.
New Sedge boss Billy Miller is yet to get his tenure in full swing following the weather problems but his side are looking to break into double figures in the points column.
Eccleshill United are also on the road in Division One. The Eagles lost in midweek but will hope for better fortunes at second-bottom Appleby Frodingham.
