Bottesford Town 3 Eccleshill 1
Eccleshill missed a good opportunity to haul themselves up the Kool Sport Northern Counties East Division One table last night after a nightmare start at Bottesford.
The home side started well and raced into a 3-0 lead within the first 15 minutes, which settled the result.
The Eagles fought back and put in a very good second-half performance but it was too little too late to affect the outcome.
Eagles boss Ian Banks said: “We got off the bus late so the preparation was rushed but I’m not using that as an excuse.
“It was a game of two halves really because we played well and got at them in the second half. We got a goal just after the hour through Andy Doogan and had another golden chance just after that.
“Bottesford deserved to win it though. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb but redeemed ourselves in the second half.”
Eccleshill head to Appleby Frodingham on Saturday, who were beaten 5-0 by Rossington Main at home last night.
