The two local non-league clubs in knockout action tonight experienced vastly differing outcomes.

Farsley progressed in the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League Cup with an away victory, while Thackley were dumped out of the President’s Cup at home.

Both ties, in their respective second rounds, did go to form and league ranking though as Farsley visited a club from a lower division, while the Dennyboys hosted one of the Premier Division’s promotion favourites.

Louth Town was the destination for Farsley and they had to bide their time before breaking the deadlock.

The opening goal eventually came ten minutes from time but it opened the floodgates and Farsley ran out 3-0 victors.

Skipper Dominic Krief scored the first with a curling shot into the top corner from the edge of the area.

The second was added by Ben Jones from close range, and when Marcus Walmsley was brought down in the area in the last minute, he got up to net the penalty himself.

Thackley shipped in three goals against Scarborough Athletic but at least they got a consolation after striking the woodwork four times.

The visitors got off to a good start when Bill Law headed in following a sixth-minute cross.

That was the only goal of the first half but they doubled their advantage immediately after the break through Richard Medcalf, and four minutes later Ryan Blott added the third.

Thackley’s reply came just before the hour when Matt Mathers collected a cross from Josh McClean before turning his marker and shooting across the Boro keeper.

Premier Division counterparts Brighouse Town were playing for points but, despite having home advantage, they suffered defeat at the hands of Selby Town.

The visitors took all three points thanks to a single goal as Adam Lee netted in the first minute of the second half.

Tomorrow night, Eccleshill United are also looking to put points on the board, but in Division One.

The Eagles enjoyed success on the road at the weekend by winning 3-2 at Louth, and they will have to do the business away from home again as they head to the Scunthorpe area to take on Bottesford Town.
