Silsden face a tough test in the Vodkat League on Saturday but they do have home advantage against third-placed Ramsbottom United in a Premier Division roses clash.

The Cobbydalers can boast that they are unbeaten in 2011 but the harsh reality is that they have taken just one point from a 1-1 draw at Rossendale United in what was a relegation battle.

There are only four clubs below Silsden, one of which is Rossendale, and they are averaging less than a point per game. Ramsbottom have more than double that points total towards the top of the table.

Silsden spokesman Jim Rosser said: “We played well at Rossendale and could have won the game. The players were rusty and there were poor touches all around but that is only to be expected after one game since the end of November.

“We also had a new signing in Andrew Howland (formerly Eccleshill United) and he came off the bench to make his debut and had a late shot just wide.

“It wasn’t a win but we stopped the rot. It was a game we couldn’t afford to lose because of the position of the clubs in the table and we didn’t, so it was a moral victory.

“We will go into the game against Ramsbottom looking to keep our unbeaten run this year going. You have got to be positive, haven’t you?”
