Mahmoods, Fairbank United’s five-a-side team, won GOALS Bradford’s annual Christmas tournament.
In a marathon group format of nine games, Mahmoods hit an impressive 30 goals while conceding only two to top their section.
They were even more impressive in the semi-finals, defeating Portsnal SK 10-0, but the final against the festively-named Jingle Bells was much closer.
Jingle Bells raced into a two-goal lead but Mahmoods, thanks to strikes from Zahid Hussain, a brace by Faisal Shabbir and an Irfan Khan wonder strike, went into half-time with a 4-2 lead.
Youngster Asif Iqbal added Mahmoods’ fifth goal before a spirited fightback from Jingle Bells left the final score a respectable 5-4.
Delighted captain Mohammed Jameel said: “We all came with the right attitude and the hard work and effort paid off in the end.
“Hopefully this will be the first of many trophies for Fairbank United this season.”
