There was more frustration and disappointment for Guiseley yesterday as their Boxing Day fixture was called off.
The Lions, who are still joint top of the Blue Square Bet North, were scheduled to make the short trip to struggling Harrogate Town.
The freezing temperatures were once again the problem, with snow and ice still on Town’s pitch.
Guiseley are due to play again tomorrow, at home to Vauxhall Motors, but even that is doubtful.
It could be that the return derby fixture with Harrogate Town next Saturday will be the Lions’ next run-out.
Manager Steve Kittrick said yesterday: “It was very disappointing but we had all the players in for training yesterday morning. If tomorrow is off then they will be in again for another tough session.
“There is a slim chance of some play but it is going to have to thaw a hell of a lot for the pitch to pass an inspection.”
There is a pitch inspection planned for lunchtime today and the club has stated that an update will be posted on their website as early as possible in the afternoon.
An added complication would be surface water or a waterlogged pitch if the predicted mild weather does materialise.
Kittrick said his players were like coiled springs: “They have worked really hard and all we have to do is ensure they are focused on the next game.
“We don’t know if that will be tomorrow, New Year’s Day or the week after but we have to prepare them properly just in case.
“We had a few with niggling injuries before the fixture disruption began but they have all cleared up now. All of the lads have done well on the training pitch and really put themselves through it.
“They are just desperate for a game at the moment.
“They want to do what they are here for and go out to win football matches. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed that they will get the opportunity very soon.”
