It is a day of derbies in the Kool Sport Northern Counties East League as the organisers like to keep travelling to a minimum over the holiday period.
Traditionally it is to allow the away sides to spend as much time at home with their families as possible. However, with the current weather situation it is important that players and fans alike are not undertaking long journeys.
The league have been flexible recently regarding their rule that games cannot be called off before the actual day.
But with the added complication of the holiday period and the league offices and website being unmanned, there are sure to be some last-minute postponements in tomorrow’s schedule.
Premier Division leaders FARSLEY AFC are due to host Thackley. The home side are still ahead of the pack, despite the glut of recent postponements and the fact that they have played as many as three games more than some of their title rivals.
Thackley are in need of points after losing the consistency that has been such a trademark of manager Dave Morgan and No 2 Graham Clifford’s 12 months in charge.
They have been left trailing in the wake of neighbours Brighouse TOWN, who are in the top four despite having only been promoted last May.
Town host their own local rivals, with LIVERSEDGE the visitors in a clash of two clubs that know a lot about each other.
Brighouse boss Mark Brier is a former Sedge manager and has signed a lot of players who either started out at Clayborn or spent some time there.
Meanwhile, ECCLESHILL UNITED are at home to their most local rivals in Division One, with Leeds-based Yorkshire Amateur – weather permitting – making the short trip tomorrow afternoon.
SILSDEN'S home game has already suffered a postponement as they were due to host Ashton Athletic in the Vodkat Premier Division.
The Cobbydalers had to work like Trojans to get their last home game on but on this occasion the weather has beaten them.
