Lee Bullock column
We’re going to have a jam-packed programme of rearranged games thanks to the good old British weather.
It will be interesting to see where they manage to squeeze all these matches in. We’re going to be up and down the country and all over the place every midweek for a couple of months.
It’s frustrating because we want to be out there now but there’s nothing you can do about all this snow and ice.
When we do start playing again, it won’t be a bad thing being so busy. Preparing for games all the time builds up the tension and the atmosphere around the place.
You go from playing Saturday to doing a little bit of light training on the Monday and then you’re ready to play again the following night. It breaks the week up.
If you’re in good form, you can’t wait to get back out there. And if you’ve had a bad one on the Saturday, it’s the chance to get that straight out the system.
There is no worry about the lads losing their fitness levels. We are training indoors where everything is short and sharp, so every day you get a good sweat on.
As anyone who plays five-a-side knows, you don’t half run around a lot in that tight space.
When the fixtures come out, just like the fans you look to see who you’ve got first game, last game and on Boxing Day because they are the big ones.
You saw Chesterfield at home and thought what a great game that’s going to be. Unfortunately we’ll now have to wait for a Tuesday night sometime, which won’t be the same.
We said goodbye to Zesh this week and good luck for his exciting new career in Thailand. He’s been a great role model for lads at the club and an example to all the youngsters.
I look forward to seeing him pop up again on some programme on Sky Sports at some point!
And I’d just like to wish everyone a happy Christmas on behalf of all the lads and best wishes for the new year.
We look forward to seeing you all at the next game – hopefully sometime soon!
