James Hanson would welcome the competition of having Jason Price at Valley Parade full time.
Price’s loan runs out after the Bury game on January 3 – one of seven first-teamers whose position with City will have to be sorted out that week.
The experienced striker has already made it clear how he wants his situation to pan out after being frozen out by Carlisle.
And Hanson, his rival for the targetman role, would also love to see him on board.
Hanson is still only in his second season as a pro and believes that his own game will benefit from having Price around.
He said: “The longer Pricey stays here, the better it will be for me.
“I learn a lot from him. Even in training he’s always talking to me and giving out useful bits of advice.
“The saying goes that you can never stop learning and that’s right. He’s a great help.
“It’s good to have people like Pricey around telling me what position to pick up on the pitch and things like that. I don’t mind the competition for places. Obviously it’s a long season and not every one of us is going to play every week.
“You’ve got to be a team player and having Pricey here makes the squad stronger.”
