Footballers in Bradford will have the perfect chance to run off the excesses of Christmas and New Year as a brand new six-a-side league is set to kick off early in 2011.

All teams who sign up before the competition, which is run by Leisure Leagues, starts at Thornton Recreation Centre on January 31 will receive free shirts for players, together with a waiving of the usual £25 registration fee.

Teams will be competing for a range of top prizes, including custom-made trophies and free entry to the national six-a-side championships in which they will get the chance to really hit the jackpot as past winners have received a package including a trip to Poland.

All standards are catered for, with new business manager Lee Wilcox saying: “Whether you fancy yourself as the next Lionel Messi, or you are an honest trier who loves the game, then we can find room for you here.

“We have been running leagues for 30 years and we are confident that we can give the same enjoyment to the community of Bradford that we have already in so many places.”

Qualified referees will be in charge of games. Players will be able to follow results, league tables and post their own profiles on the league’s interactive website.

Anyone who wants to register a team can do so at www.leisureleagues.net, or call 08452-302340 for more details.
