Zesh Rehman is leaving City to join Thailand champions Muangthong United.
The defender, whose contract at Valley Parade was up at the end of the season, was on his way out after being disciplined by Peter Taylor.
Rehman was stripped of the captaincy and placed on the transfer list following public comments he made in a radio interview.
The Pakistani international joined City in January 2009, initially on loan from Fulham, before signing a two-year deal in that summer. He made 71 appearances and scored two goals.
