Guiseley's players just keep on bouncing back from any disappointment and are yet to feel the pain of back-to-back defeats this season.

They have lost just two league games, despite being promoted into the Blue Square Bet North this season, and exited the FA Cup in the first-round proper.

Last Saturday, they progressed in the FA Trophy by knocking out holders Barrow at their Holker Street home.

Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick, who has already won two manager of the month awards, said: “That was a fantastic result but we nearly threw it away at the end.

“It was a great performance to be 3-0 up after 20 minutes and it could have been six or seven by half- time. Their keeper made a couple of great saves and we wasted a few very good chances.

“I knew they would come out and go at us in the second half and told the players to expect that. We missed a penalty, should have had another and had two players sent off, so it was a game you couldn’t take your eyes off.

“They had a penalty and Danny Boshell was sent off after that for foul and abusive language. Our players were annoyed because they felt the Barrow player dived and the referee made it worse when he looked to be going to his pocket for a card.

“Our lads thought it was for a yellow card but he stopped and put the whistle to his mouth to give the 'pen'. That wound the lads up but I wasn’t happy with Bosh’s reaction because it could have cost us dearly.

“He will be dealt with internally and there will be a fine because he has got to learn to control himself.

"I was very disappointed with the ref myself and his reaction to my questions after the game but that doesn’t excuse the players losing it.”

Guiseley’s next opponents, in the last 32 of the competition that has a Wembley final, will be Blue Square Bet North rivals Stalybridge Celtic.

They have already visited Nethermoor once this term and were beaten.

Kittrick added: “Stalybridge will be a difficult one because they have been a bit up and down this season but are a full-time outfit.

"There was a bit of argy-bargy in the league game and their supporters have been running us down on the internet message boards, so it will be a spicy cup tie.”
