Dudley Hill suffered a 28-14 defeat against Halifax rivals Siddal in the National Conference League Premier Division.
Hill were caught cold as Siddal raced into a 20-0 lead after just ten minutes with tries from Gareth Blackburn (2), hooker Craig Sanderson and forward Simeon Hoyle.
But, despite having a mountain to climb, Hill showed great spirit in the second half to put up a determined fight.
Winger Craig Tyman was first to cross for the home side, successfully converted by stand-off Tony Williams.
A neat kick through then allowed Tyman the opportunity to pounce for his second of the afternoon before Hill rounded off the scoring when a smart move saw full back Danny Thomas dive over.
But the home side’s slow start proved costly and they stay tenth with a crunch match to come this weekend at Saddleworth Rangers.
