Leeds United are racing the clock to get key defender Andy O’Brien fit to face Championship leaders Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road on Saturday.
O’Brien, on loan from Bolton, missed the 3-2 win at Burnley with a thigh strain picked up in training a week ago.
His form has been outstanding since his arrival on October 29 and his loan spell has recently been extended to January 4.
United are keen to keep him beyond that date and could sign him permanently during the transfer window if a fee can be agreed with Bolton. There have been rumours of a possible exchange deal involving midfielder Bradley Johnson but neither club has confirmed this.
Defensive errors led to Burnley’s two goals at the weekend and O’Brien’s return against QPR would be a major boost as United look to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches.
