The Kool Sport Northern Counties East League get their 2010-11 season underway on Saturday, and newly-promoted Brighouse Town have fortunately been allotted a home game by the fixture computer.
Town ended the last campaign as runners-up in Division One and their Duel Seal Stadium passed the required ground-grading criteria.
That puts them in the top tier of the NCEL in only their third season on the non-league ladder.
Town go into the game in high spirits and with confidence brimming.
They beat Bradford Park Avenue in one of their friendlies and signed off in style with a 4-1 victory over Rochdale Town in midweek.
Town boss Mark Brier said: “The preparations have gone well and we have seen progress from one game to the next - not just the Avenue and Rochdale games but Emley, Colne and Padiham also went well.
"We got a lesson in football against Halifax Town but you need a dose of reality too.
“It all brings us round to our first game at this level and it will be a tough one because Pickering Town are a very strong side.
"They are well established in the Premier Division, so it will be a marker for us to see how far we have come and how much still needs doing.”
