There was double good news for Leeds manager Simon Grayson as he made his eighth signing of the summer.
Grayson has managed to bring England Under-19 forward Sanchez Watt back to the club from Arsenal on a season-long loan.
But the United boss was equally delighted to announce that the pre-season knee injury to Robert Snodgrass is not as bad as at first feared and the Scot should be back in action in about a month.
Watt, who can play up front or on the flanks and made six loan appearances for Leeds at the end of last season, could well fill Snodgrass’s place in the opening match against Derby on Saturday.
Grayson said: “Everyone is playing for their place – that’s all across the pitch. No position is set in stone. Players will be looking to impress this week in training.”
United’s 19-year-old defender Tom Lees has gone out on loan to Bury to gain more first-team experience. He spent some time at Accrington last season.
