Leeds United are set to complete the £200,000 signing of defender Alex Bruce from Ipswich.
Bruce, 25, started his career at Blackburn but was a team-mate of Leeds’ current club captain Richard Naylor at Ipswich where he made over 100 appearances in the Championship. He ended last season on loan at Leicester.
Manager Simon Grayson is keen to make at least one additional signing before the season’s start, with his attacking resources hit by injuries to Billy Paynter and Robert Snodgrass and suspensions for Max Gradel and Davide Somma.
Snodgrass had a scan yesterday to determine the extent of the injury he received during United’s win against Brann Bergen in Norway this week.
