Saturday is the last available slot for friendlies for six of the area’s semi-pro clubs and they are taking advantage of it.
The revamped Farsley AFC begin their first season in eight days, and have a high-profile friendly at home to Guiseley.
The Throstle Nest club, who were forced to resign from the Blue Square North following financial difficulties last March, host neighbours gearing up for their first season in that division.
Neil Parsley’s new Farsley outfit has more than a sprinkling of old Celts players, and the club have enjoyed a 100 per cent record in their pre-season campaign to date.
But this will present their biggest test yet against a Guiseley side who still have another fortnight before their season gets underway.
Manager Steve Kittrick will be able to continue his policy of using 18 to 20 players, while Parsley has already spoken of channelling his squad with the starting line-up for next Saturday’s league opener in mind.
Brighouse Town and Liversedge have both arranged home games. Promoted Town take on Colne who, as Silsden’s Vodkat Premier Division rivals, are on the same step of the pyramid as their hosts.
Sedge have gone for the challenge of facing West Riding County Amateur outfit Bay Athletic.
New Eccleshill United boss Ian Banks wanted just four friendlies but the former Bantams number two has opted for an additional one as Durham Athletic make the trip to the Smith Butler Stadium.
Thackley are on the road as they head north to Settle for a double header, with first team and reserves involved in separate matches.
