A Legends XI graced Clayborn on Sunday in a charity match but tomorrow night it will be the turn of Bradford Park Avenue to visit in what should be more of a pre-season workout for Liversedge.

It will be the first proper game for Sedge’s new management team of Stuart Waddington and his No 2 Adam Hughes. The pair worked together at Glasshoughton until a fortnight ago but switched to Clayborn when the vacancy arose due to Sean Regan’s appointment as Scunthorpe United academy coach.

Avenue manager Simon Collins will be keen to get his squad back in action after losing at Brighouse Town at the weekend. Keeper Ben Scott was injured in the early stages and is doubtful for tonight.

Brighouse were delighted with their 1-0 win over higher-ranked opponents. Tomorrow night they host AFC Emley, who were divisional rivals last season before Town’s promotion as runners-up of the Kool Sport NCEL Division One.

Guiseley head to Clitheroe following a 1-1 draw at Frickley Athletic. The Lions confirmed the signings of former City midfielder Tom Penford and Matty James, who was with Avenue last season, ahead of their first stint in the Blue Square North.

Farsley AFC host their second game since reforming when they entertain Ossett Town. Like Harrogate Railway, whom Farsley beat 4-1 in their first match, their opponents are higher up the football pyramid now the Throstle Nest side are an NCEL Premier Division outfit.

Thackley are at home to Colne, with the Dennyboys hoping for a more satisfactory conclusion after Saturday’s game against Staveley MW was curtailed at half-time. A statement regarding that abandonment is expected from Dennyfield during the week.
