One of Bradford Park Avenue’s major players from last season was on show for Guiseley as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Frickley Athletic.

Midfielder Matty James has made the step up to the Lions following their promotion to the Blue Square North.

Guiseley created some good chances in the goalless first half and broke the deadlock through Darryn Stamp, another close season signing, early in the second.

Frickley were behind for just ten minutes before Adam Lee headed the home side level.

Silsden were forced to borrow Crosshills FC’s ground for the visit of Leigh Genesis due to building work at Keighley Road.

The switch did not prevent the Cobbydalers claiming a 2-1 victory.

All the goals came after the interval, with Mick Vernon heading Leigh in front before Rick Gleaves equalised.

Silsden’s winner came after a sweeping move was finished off by Arley Barnes.

Thackley were beaten at home by their former manager Billy Fox’s Staveley MW, with Jamie Smith netting the only goal of the game.

Newly-formed Farsley AFC hosted their first home game on Friday night and ran out 4-1 winners at Throstle Nest against Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Mark Bett put them in front but Kevin Ryan levelled. Further strikes from Andy Cooper, Bett and Steve Mallery in the second half made it a comfortable win.
