The locals of Farsley are anticipating a big night tomorrow as first-team football returns to Throstle Nest when Harrogate Railway Athletic turn up for a friendly.
Farsley AFC have played two pre-season fixtures on the road since their inception but are at home this evening.
The stadium, sold by the administrators who terminated Farsley Celtic’s 100-year life-span, has since been sold by the council to the people who wanted to buy the old club out of administration.
Neil Parsley will be in charge of the new side, so will return to the dressing rooms and dug out tomorrow night for the first time since the Celts’ final home game last February.
He said: “Everyone is looking forward to this game and I hope there will be a lot of supporters of the old club coming through the gates - they will see a lot of the old faces.”
Players with a Celts past include Roy Stamer, Tom Jackson, Dom Krief, Scott Driscoll, Gareth Grant, Ben Jones and player-coaches Mark Jackson and Simeon Bambrook.
All of them have been involved in the other two friendlies, which both ended in victories.
Parsley added: "This game was originally arranged as an away fixture but Railway’s pitch has been verti-drained and needs more time to bed in.
"Our own pitch could have done with a longer rest and is probably not ready just yet but, at this stage, a game is a game and I want to get the squad down to 15 or 16 for this one.”
