A couple of lads haven’t been able to make the trip to Essex with us.

And we’re all a bit worried with what we keeping reading about Flynny. We saw his interview in the T&A this week and we’re getting quite concerned.

He’s been losing that much weight while he’s back home, there’s going to be nothing left of him.

All these sit-ups he’s been apparently doing in the gym have given him the injury. It’s funny because none of us can remember seeing him do a single one.

The lads are obviously concerned that he’s wasting away, so we’re expecting to see a slimline figure when we come back.

We’ve been looking for this 3kg he lost over the summer and now he’s saying he’s lost more. It will be like a whole new player!

It’s been a good week so far down south. We’ve had decent weather and it’s a really nice hotel with plenty of facilities.

A lot of decent teams have stayed there and there are some good shirts on the wall.

We’ve seen England under-19s, Vitesse Arnhem, Sheffield United, Derby and among them all is a York shirt from 2001.

I spotted my signature on it from a cup tie against Colchester in the first round which finished 0-0! It made me feel very old telling all the young lads.

There are a couple of good-looking golf courses as well but when we’re training all day and then playing games, we can’t get out on them.

It’s a bit of tease seeing the courses. Mind you, the legs are a bit too tired to go round one of them.

But it’s good to have everyone away together for a few days. We’ve got new players and the more you settle in and have a bit of banter, the closer you get as a group.

It’s good fun but there’s a lot of serious work being done. After losing on Wednesday, we had our first telling off of the season, so we’ll want to put that out our system over the next couple of games.
