Silsden 3, Royton Town 0
Silsden ran out comfortable winners in their home friendly against Manchester League outfit Royton Town.
Improvements to the Cobbydalers’ Keighley Road ground ahead of the forthcoming Vodkat League season led to the fixture being played on their training pitch but both clubs got what they needed from the game.
All three goals came in the first half, with Lee Reilly breaking the deadlock early following a Jamie Longley flick on.
Longley combined with Lee Thompson to set up the second for Damien Whiteoak and Reilly’s second wrapped up the scoring just before the break.
James Gill and Matt Kershaw went close to adding to the home side’s lead in the goalless second half as they dominated territory and possession.
The previous evening had seen BRIGHOUSE TOWN and THACKLEY also enjoying home wins against opponents from over the Pennines.
Town triumphed 1-0 against Padiham thanks to a Lee Malcher goal, while the Dennyboys romped to a 6-2 victory over Haslingden St Mary’s at Dennyfield.
