Avenue 0, Huddersfield Town 3
Avenue came up against a strong Huddersfield Town squad and although Simon Collins’ side did well, Lee Clark will hold the bragging rights for the season.
The Terriers got their noses in front early when Jordan Rhodes headed home in the second minute.
A penalty just before the hour mark, converted by Scott Arfield, made it 2-0 and Theo Robinson wrapped up the scoring eight minutes from time.
Avenue director and spokesman Kevin Hainsworth said: “We had a crowd of 522, which is very respectable for a midweek friendly, and Huddersfield did us proud by sending a practically full-strength team.
“Their people were saying ten of the starters in this game would be expected to be in the side for their first League One game in a couple of weeks.”
