Davide Somma has already done enough in pre-season to put him in contention for a place in the Leeds squad for the new season.
The striker spent time on loan at Lincoln last season, getting experience of English conditions.
But his work in training and display in United’s 1-0 defeat by Slovakian side MFK Ruzomberok on Tuesday have impressed Simon Grayson.
The Leeds boss said: “He scored goals last season and we know we have a player there. He won’t be going out on loan anywhere this season.”
The United squad left their base to spend a day warming down and doing light training in the mountains yesterday and will pick up full training again today ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with MFK Kosice.
