Avenue are expecting a strong Huddersfield squad to arrive at Horsfall tomorrow night for their second pre-season friendly under new boss Simon Collins.
The former Town midfielder has named the same 23 players that were involved in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Durham City.
The Terriers were left frustrated at the weekend when manager Lee Clark called off their warm-up game at Wakefield because the pitch was too hard.
Avenue boss Collins said: “The lads that were there on Saturday will more or less form the squad for the season.
“I am still waiting on a couple of players who were here last season and that will make a difference as to how many of the newly arrived players are offered deals.
“We want about 16 or 18 players to form the basis of our squad, so some will be released, but there will be plenty of time for them all to prove to us how good they are.”
Guiseley are also welcoming a Football League outfit tomorrow, with Middlesbrough heading to Nethermoor.
It will be the Lions’ first friendly after Bradford City pulled the plug on their proposed visit.
Boro manager Gordon Strachan has promised a strong squad as it is their only fixture of the midweek, while Lions counterpart Steve Kittrick is hoping to get all of his close-season signings involved.
One player missing will be goalkeeper Jon Worsnop after he was knocked off his motorcycle outside the ground on Saturday morning.
The former Avenue player is a crowd favourite at both local clubs and many well-wishers left messages on both fans’ forums after hearing he was recovering in hospital after the accident.
