Eccleshill United have already begun their pre-season friendly fixtures with last Friday’s defeat at home to Bradford City, and they are back in action tomorrow night.

The visitors, for a 7.30 kick off, are neighbours Thackley.

It will be the second of only four warm-up games for the Eagles that new manager Ian Banks, former Bantams player and assistant to Nicky Law, has arranged.

Eccleshill match-day secretary Brian Bell said: “We left it Ian to decide the pre-season schedule and he wanted just four games. We have already played one but this will be the first for Thackley.

“There should be a derby atmosphere about it and we hope there will be a few locals coming through the turnstiles.

“Thackley usually bring a few hardened drinkers with them and it’s normally a great occasion with a bit of banter flying around.”

While tomorrow night is a very local affair, there are two higher profile games scheduled for Wednesday.

Bradford Park Avenue are hosting their new manager Simon Collins’ former club Huddersfield Town and Guiseley will be welcoming Gordon Strachan’s Middlesbrough.

Collins has named the same squad that were on duty for Saturday’s 2-0 win over Durham City, while Strachan has promised to send a strong side for the Nethermoor opener.
