Leeds United are expected to give a run-out tonight to most of the 22 players who have travelled to Slovakia for a week-long training camp and two pre-season friendlies.

They play MFK Ruzomberok ,and, on Friday, MFK Kosice. As expected, club captain Richard Naylor has remained behind at Thorp Arch to build up his fitness but summer signings Kasper Schmeichel, Federico Bessone, Paul Connolly, Billy Paynter, Neill Collins and Lloyd Sam are on the tour.

Manager Simon Grayson said: "Results are less important at this stage than fitness conditioning and team bonding for the new signings." United's trip to Slovakia has generated immense interest among the local media and public alike, with 400 spectators turning up at an open training session ahead of the MFK Ruzomberok match, which kicks off at 6.30pm (5.30pm British time).

Meanwhile, Grayson is continuing his search for a successor to last season's top scorer Jermaine Beckford but the United manager says he will still be happy if he starts the season with the strikers already on the club#s books.

United's six summer signings so far have included just one striker - Paynter - and Grayson said: "Hopefully we have players at the club who can get the goals Jermaine did last season, though there is a possibility of bringing in another striker as well.

"We have Luciano Becchio, Mike Grella and Billy Paynter, with Max Gradel and Davide Somma also options up front once their suspensions are over.

"There are not many teams in this division with loads of money to spend on permanent transfers. Middlesbrough are one of the few teams who have done that, so you try to get the best free transfers available.

"We spent money on Neill Collins from Preston and that's not to say there isn't more money to spend as well."
