Midfielder Lloyd Sam, 25, has completed his much-predicted move from Charlton to Leeds United, where he becomes manager Simon Grayson's sixth signing of the summer.
Leeds-born Sam, whose father was an Elland Road fan while studying at Leeds University, was brought up in London.
He was almost ever-present last season at Charlton, where his contract expired this summer.
United striker Davide Somma has reported back for pre-season training a week late after immigration problems.
Somma, who was born in South Africa but brought up in America, needed a new Green Card or he would not have been allowed back into the United States.
He received help from MP Hilary Benn and his plane touched down in Manchester on Thursday morning. Somma, who had a successful spell on loan at Lincoln City last season, trained with his Leeds team-mates at Thorp Arch yesterday.
Several clubs have expressed an interest in him, but Somma 25, is keen to make the grade at Leeds and says: "I enjoyed my time at Lincoln but I can't wait to make the step-up with Leeds now."
Meanwhile, Grayson has told former Elland Road goal ace Jermaine Beckford to make the most of his move to Everton.
Beckford, who scored 31 goals in all competitions for Leeds last season, joined Everton when his contract expired and Grayson is keen to see him fulfil his rich potential on Merseyside.
Grayson said: "When I spoke to Jermaine, I thanked him for what he had done and told him to grasp the opportunity at Everton.
"I advised him not to let it drift by and not to settle for being a squad player. Everton are a great club to be involved with and hopefully he will give himself the best opportunity to succeed.
"Everybody knows Jermaine has his strengths and weaknesses but the one important strength he possesses is knowing where the back of the net is. He is instinctive in and around the 18-yard box, and that is a vital quality to have at any level.
"Obviously defenders are better and quicker in the Premier League, so there are parts of his game he knows he will have to improve on, but if he gets half an opportunity the likelihood is he will take it."
The kick-off time of United's home game against Millwall on Saturday, August 21, has been brought forward to 12.30pm on police advice.
