Peter Taylor is in the hunt for a full-time City goalkeeping coach to take over from Nigel Martyn.

The former England stopper has overseen the Valley Parade keepers in recent seasons but he is only available for a couple of days each week.

With Jon McLaughlin and new back-up Lloyd Saxton lacking senior experience, Taylor feels they need someone to train them on a daily basis.

He said: “I really like Nigel and he’s been absolutely terrific but he can only come in twice a week.

“We’ve got two young goalkeepers and we need to do more work with them. I need somebody in every day as well as match days.

“I’ve told the players they are going to have more individual work this year and more as a group in their positions. It’s little areas where I’m hoping to improve them.

“It works out well with the staff because we’ve got Wayne Jacobs, who was a defender, Junior Lewis to look after midfield and I was an attacker. That’s why it’s important we have a specialist goalkeeping coach as well.”
