Tonight’s derby clash of the UniBond Premier Division titans was postponed at the 11th hour due to heavy rain.

Bradford Park Avenue should have hosted Guiseley in what was already a rearranged match, the initial fixture being off on Boxing Day due to snow.

Avenue director Kevin Hainsworth said: “I was at the ground during the day, keeping a check on everything. At 5pm it was perfect but we had a deluge then and that just added to all the water in the ground from the weekend.

“We worked on it as long as we could but an hour before kick-off, with the rain still teeming down, we had to concede that it would have to be called off.

“It is a matter of getting together with Guiseley now to thrash out a new date.”

Both clubs are currently neck and neck at the top of the table on the same number of points and having played the same number of games, with Avenue in first place thanks to a superior goal difference.

Weather permitting, Thackley are scheduled to journey to Selby Town in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division tomorrow night, while Eccleshill United will be looking for a home win over Staveley MW to lift them out of the bottom two in Division One.
