Manningham FC gained revenge over Buttershaw Celtic in a repeat of last year’s Intermediate League Cup final in an often ill-tempered semi-final clash.

Manningham led 2-0 at the break with goals from Adam Jones and Mohammed Quisar. Captain Imran Fazil had a superb match. He was instrumental in most attacks for Manningham and crowned a terrific display with a superb strike in the 50th minute to put the match beyond Buttershaw – who hit a consolation goal near the end of the match.

The other semi-final between New Furnace and Mill Lane was a tense affair, with neither team breaking the deadlock in normal time.

New Furnace took the lead in the first period of extra-time but a strike by Liam Charles restored parity in the second period.

In the penalty shoot-out, the Division 2A side conquered their nerves and Mill Lane to book a place in the final.

In the delayed Bradford & District Sunday Cup, Bolton Woods were too strong for a gallant Royal FC team with a 5-2 victory.

Bradford Phoenix won a bad tempered affair with Wrose Albion 9-3 in Division 2A.

Phoenix were 5-0 up in the opening 15 minutes. Wrose then had two players dismissed as tackles flew in.

Stuart White was the star man bagging four goals, with Ryan Hudson scoring an hat-trick and Lewis Leighton and Craig Hogan – direct from a corner – completed the scoring.

Bradford Sunday Alliance side West Bowling are in West Riding County Cup semi-final action at Woodlesford tomorrow night.

Bowling’s opponents were due to be Alverthorpe from Wakefield but they have been dismissed from the competition for playing an inelegible player. They will now meet the team Alverthorpe beat in the quarter-final, Old Pack Horse.
