West Bowling were made to pay for a series of first-half misses in their eagerly awaited top-of-the-table Bradford Sunday Alliance League Premier Division clash with champions Buttershaw White Star.

Bowling took the lead after five minutes through Damian Melvyn but wasted several other good chances.

Buttershaw struck back after the break with two goals in a five-minute period courtesy of Mark Bett and Jordan Missin.

In the closing stages, with Bowling desperately pushing forward for the equaliser, the champions caught them on the break when Missin added his second goal.

This leaves White Star six points clear at the top but Bowling have played one match less so it could still go down to the final match of the season when they clash again at Emsleys on May 9.

Queensbury – who are giving some young second-team players Premier Division experience – shared the points against Clayton Orient while Oakenshaw returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Baildon Trinity Athletic.

Division One leaders Westwood Park will be playing Premier Division football next season after beating Wyke Wanderers at East Bierley.

John Penn, Michael O’Brian with a penalty and Glyn Hurst were on the mark for the leaders.

Cuedos Rangers’ own promotion push faltered when they were beaten 2-1 by visitors Allerton.

Prospect Rovers also fell by the wayside when Ventus United beat them 5-3. Greg Weston and Danny Backhouse struck a brace each for the hosts.

In Division 1A, leaders George Hotel strengthened their position at the top by winning 3-2 against Thackley Shoulder.

Both Stocks Lane Rangers and Bolton Wood Social missed their chances of catching the leaders by drawing 2-2.

Victoria Rangers climbed the table when they won their relegation battle with Dog & Gun winning 2-1.

Thornbury Junction extended their unbeaten run to nine games, and six wins in a row, after beating Wrose Bull in the top clash in Division 1B. Danny Fisher, Latvinder Singh and Mark Beal secured the points in a 3-2 win.

Daniel Sharkey took his goal tally to seven in the last two matches as Gaping Goose improved their position in the fight for promotion with a 6-0 win over Ravenscliffe.

Andy Brown hit a hat-trick in Bolton Junction’s 4-2 win over Georges.

Bradford Phoenix won a bad tempered affair with Wrose Albion 9-3 in Division 2A.

Phoenix were 5-0 up in the opening 15 minutes. Wrose then had two players dismissed as tackles flew in.

Stuart White was the star man bagging four goals, with Ryan Hudson scoring an hat-trick and Lewis Leighton and Craig Hogan – direct from a corner – completed the scoring.

Sixteen-year old whizz kid Ben Goodison bagged a brace as Queensbury Reserves overcame Boars Head 2-1 in Division 2A.

Thornbury Celtic beat Great Horton 2-0 with goals from Berry and Timor in Division 2B.

After a goalless first half, Andy Boltwood put Beldon Sports two up against Second West but a goal with eight minutes left ensured a tense finish.

In Division 3A, top-of-the-table Undercliffe drew 1-1 with New Inn Celtic, with Micky Reynolds’ opener for Undercliffe being cancelled out by man of the match Billy Swiatek early in the second half.

Cuedos Rangers shared the points with George Hotel in a 2-2 draw, with Brad Wright and Simon Emery on the scoresheet.

A pair of braces from Andy Kenyan and Jordan Smith saw Stanningley Albion beat Bradford Moor YSA 5-1 in Division 3B while in Division Four, Robin Hood provided a shock against second-place Whitburn, winning 3-2.

Two goals from Dempsey helped them climb to within one point of the leaders.

Goals from Will Dayton, Anthony Montey and Matty Emsley gave bottom club De Treffors a 3-2 victory against Oddfellows Idle and super striker Khurram Shazad scored five as Hockney beat Sporting BYO 6-1. Even goalkeeper Usman Nawaz got on the scoresheet, with a penalty.

A brace from Tyrone Terralonge gave Titans all three points in a 2-1 win over Silsden Sunday Reserves.
