Peter Taylor will renew an acquaintance dating back a quarter of a century in the dug-out on Saturday.

Dagenham number two Terry Harris was Taylor’s assistant when he took his first steps in management in the mid-1980s.

The pair spent four seasons together at Dartford and another one with Enfield.

Taylor is also close pals with Daggers boss John Still since taking over from him at another non-league club, Dover.

Still and Harris were particularly supportive after Taylor was sacked by Wycombe last year.

The City chief said: “When I was out of work, those two fellas were always on the phone encouraging me to come and watch some games with them. I really appreciated that.

“John is a real football man and different class as a manager. He can spot a player and his contacts in the game are second to none.

“Dagenham & Redbridge will always be a very strong team while he is there.

“John always produces good players but unfortunately he has to sell some of the best ones at times.

“But they are a dangerous side to play against and are always a goal threat.”

Still, who has been in charge of Dagenham since 2004, is not surprised to see Taylor back in management.

He said: “Peter knows his job more than me and he’ll know if he is planning for next season.

“You can bet one thing about a team managed by Peter though – it will be well organised and hard to beat.

“But we enjoy going to the likes of Bradford and playing in the big games. We will go there looking to win, there is no doubt about that.”
